I discovered 'Found' magazine through work - we've recently started to stock a few magazines and when selecting our list I saw 'Found' there. I was really curious when I read its description and asked for a sample copy (there have to be some perks to my job!). Anyway, its an American mag and it mainly consists of 'found' notes, letters, shopping lists, signs, drawings, photos etc. that are sent in by readers from all over the USA. I would love it if they did a UK version, as apart from being a fasinating glimpse into people's lives, it also gives you an insight into the culture of the country. I'm going to get a hold of the first 3 issues and wanted to stock the books at work, but unfortunately they aren't available here. You can buy the mag from lots of places though, including Boo-hiss Borders and Tate Modern.
One of my favourites from issue 4 is the proposition letter to 'Mr. Teacher', which lays out exactly how an affair between the student and said teacher would play. It's pretty scary and quite sad too. Its also clear the guy would probably have no idea who she was, and so it makes you glad the letter was found in the rubbish bin - although it could have been tossed there by a totally freaked out educator! Anyway, if you are the least bit nosy about that sort of thing, you should check it out.
